What do the titles mean ? What do the titles mean ? The following is a list of titles and their abbreviations and what they mean in the American Kennel Club and the Canadian Kennel Club organizations.

Conformation (Show) Titles
"CH"- Champion; in the show ring this title is given to a dog after it attains the required number of points under three different judges. The result is a CH some times stated as AM( American) or Can (Canadian)
"BIS" Best in Show. If a dog has this title, it was the best dog at a conformation show one day. It defeated all the dogs entered that day. 2X, 3X simply means the number of times the dog has gone Best in Show. Our Alert was a Best in Show dog.
"BISS" Best in Specialty Show. In the conformation ring when a dog competes at a dog show where it faces only the same breed and on that day defeats all other dogs there, the dog is awarded the Best In Specialty Show title. Our Dylan is a BISS titled dog.
"BPIS" Best Puppy in Show is awarded to the best puppy (under 12 months) of age and less on the day of the show.
Obedience Titles
"CD" Companion Dog is an obedience title awarded after a dog gets three legs or passes the trial 3 times.Also referred to as Novice.
"CDX" Companion Dog Excellent is an obedience degree attained after the dog completes the CD title.The CDX is achieved when the dog successfully passes three trials. Also referred to as Open.
"UD" Utility Dog is an advance obedience degree that can be attained after the CDX degree. It is also referred to as Utility.
"OTCh" Obedience Trial Champion is an obedience title. The "OTCh" is awarded after a dog has successfully been awarded the CD, CDX and UD degrees.
"UDT" Utility Dog Tracker is a obedience and tracking title.
"TD" Tracking Dog degree, where the dog uses it's nose to track a predetermined path or "track"
"TDX" Tracking Dog Excellent is an advanced tracking title that has the track aged longer and the track is longer in length.
"HIC" High in Class is given at obedience trials where the dog is the highest scoring dog in the class that day.
"HIT"High in Trial is awarded to the dog that attains the highest obedience score in all the obedience dogs in a trial.
Other Titles
"TT" Temperament Test This is awarded when a dog passes a temperament test.
"CGC" Canine Good Citizen is a title that is awarded to a dog that passes a test to measure it's reaction to obedience and is of good behavior in public settings. This title is awarded in the US.
"CGN" Canine Good Neighbor is a title that is awarded to a dog that passes a test to measure it's reaction to obedience and is of good behavior in public settings and is recognized by the Canadian Kennel Club.
